Hello Friends
Hello Friends. And family. I just thought you'd enjoy a little hello from me to you. Hope everything is well with you, and your families!
Have I mentioned that Brogan is full on walking now? For about 2 weeks, he's been homo-erectus, and like any good boy, he's destroying everything in his path. Even though I've been working double time, I love that he's so excited to be getting around on his own!

Upstairs bathroom... check it out
You may be wondering what the heck I've been spending my time on these days. Upstairs Bathroom. Our new house was honestly quite move in ready. New paint, carpet, and flooring. Everything was fairly clean, except the upstairs bathroom. There were crap in the drawers, the shelves had an old, yucky, VERY dirty, {floral on top of all that} contact paper that was peeling, and the wall texture was that awful popcorn stuff{very tall popcorn}.
{SEE}
My initial plan was to just paint the insides of the cabinets, and maybe the walls. Then my friend Jaime Williams re-textured her basement, and raved about how simple it was. That got me thinking, why not!? So new plan, which included scraping and sanding down the popcorn, {Thanks Stewart and Antonio!}
When we moved in a light in this fixture was burnt out. Like good new home owners, we decided to replace the bulb. Too bad it wasn't a low enough wattage. That puppy wasn't in longer than five minutes before it heated the glass cover to bursting point! {That's glass on the floor there} Good thing Stewart was still on the stool attempting to take off the doors.... another awesome story.
This should be how you take off cabinet doors right?How bout when they look like this?!?! Who ever painted this did such an awful job! They just painted over everything, including hardware! I googled how to remove these. We tried paint thinner {and a fine while later decided my brain cells were far too sensitive for that}. We ended up melting the paint with a blow torch.
It worked, but left me with a pain in the butt sanding job!
After I "mopped" the walls clean, I began my texturing extravaganza! It was kinda fun, and made a HUGE difference! {The left is the sanded popcorn, the right is new texture}.
After letting the texture dry for 24 hours {it's so hot in that bathroom, it was actually pretty dry within the hour it was on}, but 24 hours later, I began my priming. Primed the whole bathroom. After the prime dried, I began painting. I didn't want the whole bathroom white {because that's lame sauce}. This is the kids' bathroom, so I wanted a splash of color, but wanted to keep it bright and neutral. I also wanted it to be fresh and fun, and have a sort of beachy feel to it, so I went with some bold, fun colors.
As of now, I have all the walls, cabinets, and doors painted, and I've finished putting the contact paper on the shelves! I hope to paint the counter tops and medicine cabinet, { but probably not till Antonio leaves}. As soon as Stewart gets the doors on, and I get some of my decorations hung up I'll do the big bathroom reveal! I'm so stinkin excited that it's almost done!
AND... here's a sneak peak into another {almost} completed house project we've been working on... ;)
Have I mentioned that I LOVE owning my own home?!
Antonio goes to Prom!
So a few weeks ago I asked Antonio if he wanted to go to prom {which made me so excited!} He said no. I even tried to really, really convince him that he needed to experience it. He still said no. About a week before prom, Celene Nino (the girl I suggested he ask to the prom) needed a last minute date. So she asked Antonio. {YAY!} His mom told him just to buy a nice suit, so he and Stew went shopping!
Don't they look nice together?
Addison and Brogan wanted nothing to do with Grand March. {And Addison refused to take any decent pictures}. {Someday Addison, you'll look back and think -'why was I always such a pill?!?'}
Addison and Trey
Their group went to dinner in Twin Falls, then to the dance!
My other cousin Ryan and his date.
Celene's dress was gorgeous! The theme this year was "a Touch of Class at Midnight Bay". They did an AWESOME shiny paper on the floor to look like water, and a dock for a run way. SO Great compared to the over done red carpet!
{Addison REALLY wanted to run around at her own free will and choice}
They also had this really neat boat and moon. Just a really well done prom!
They looked really well together. Although it did shock me when Antonio walked through the door at ten o'clock. No one really stayed at the dance, so they came home early! {Not like I remember!} I couldn't get enough of high school dances! (although I was somewhat of a wild child ;)Egg Dying 101 {or 2012}
This was the first year we've actually dyed Easter eggs. Addison is finally old enough to enjoy it, and honestly Stewart and I enjoyed it too! I was expecting a huge mess, water color everywhere, dye all over the kids... {you get the picture}, but I was pleasantly surprised at how well it went!
We boiled just under 5 dozen eggs...
Then got ready to dye them! We used a muffin tin, poured a little water, vinegar, and different food coloring in each hole. We didn't get too crazy, just simply colored them.
Addison enjoyed rolling the eggs around {AND eating the eggs!} I would find her around the corner peeling and eating egg after egg. Silly girl!
Brogan enjoyed cracking the hard boiled eggs....
...and trying to eat them too.
What a silly boy.
A February, March, April 2012 catch up Session
We taught Antonio to cook eggs! (and do laundry, and wash dishes). He's going to be self sufficient when he goes home in two short months! {This was taken like the day after we moved in!}
Brogan always makes me share my popsicle, but this is always the face he pulls! Too cold!{p.s.- look at that boy's hair! He's SO much different with a hair cut!}
These two are nuts together!
We got a {real} babysitter, and headed out to dinner and the hunger games with my parents, JoAnna, Antonio, and each of their friends! It was a fun night!Waiting for the show to start with my beautiful Momma!
I was able to get away with my Mom and JoAnna during spring break to go on a shopping spree! It was so nice to have the day without diaper bags, snack cups, diaper changes, and whiny kids! We literally spent a WHOLE day in Twin shopping (and I actually bought clothes for myself!) Such a fun day.
Lately Addison thinks Brogan is big enough to rough house. (Technically he is, but still... come on Sis!)
(This is not Brogan's favorite game btw)...
Antonio's Mom sent us a package from Brasil! The kids each got these cute hooded towels, gorgeous embrodered towels, and two pairs of flip flops each!
She also sent sandals for my Mom, my Dad, and ME! She is so awesome! I LOVE these sandals! I wear them EVERYDAY. They are so comfortable, and I seem to get so much done when I'm wearing them!
Addison is signing "I LOVE YOU" to Antonio's mom.
Antonio holding my friend Kathryne's baby. She is only a couple of weeks old. When I asked him if he wanted to hold her, he said, "I don't know". I made him hold her, and I think he enjoyed it. He's so good with kids, you almost wouldn't believe he's an only child!
Check out our newest display. I've been scouring the thrift stores for these big frames that I can paint and hang the kids' art in. Eventually I'll have another section of wall with some of these too... just gotta keep finding these awesome old frames!
There's SO much more that I've missed as I've, once again, been slacking in the documenting department. I might have a few more random posts coming, so hold on to your hat! ;)
